38 Weeks!!!

Today went well at the doctor's. Ruthie is measuring 8.2 pounds!!! WOW!!! AND, I'm a fingertip dilated!!!! IT's not as far as I was expecting, but I'll take it. So his office is trying to schedule me for induction on TUESDAY!!! YEAH!!! But, the hospital is booked (no room in the inn). So we're on the waiting list. Pretty crazy huh? It's like a restaurant, but what's on the menu is pain. However, the grand finale, the precious baby, is well worth it!!! So pray with us that there is a cancelation (meaning someone goes into labor on their own over the weekend) and I can be moved into their spot. If not, I'm on the waiting list for the entire week. We'll keep you posted with any updates!

I'll copy below what Baby Center says about week 38 development!! Keep in mind the size difference. Oh yeah, the doctor said she feels BIGGER than 8.2!!!! Lord Help US!!!

"Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs between 6 and 7 1/2 pounds (boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls), and she's nearly 20 inches long. She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old."

37 Weeks! and 2 days...

Today was the day...I was going to hear GOOD NEWS from my doctor!!! I just knew it. Yesterday, July 4th, during the Transformers movie I had 4 strong contractions about 1/2 hour apart!! I thought, "There must be something going on down there!". But when I saw the doctor, my dreams of good news came crashing to a halt and it was the same old story once again!

Apparently, I have the cervix of steel and it isn't budging. So, we're still on for an induction on July 24th, we're still on for a 10 pound baby, and now instead of going to the doctor's once a week, I will be going twice a week. They really love me there and can't get enough of my humor!!

So, Monday and Thursdays are my doctor days for the next few weeks. Thursday will be another sonogram (which my mom will finally get to attend!!!) and we'll have another update on size. Until then, we're walking as much as possible. The mall is great for that in the summer heat. Below is what Baby Center says about development at 37 weeks!!:

"Congratulations! Your baby is full-term! This means that if your baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away. He weighs a little over 6 pounds and measures between 19 and 20 inches. Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long."

Don't you love how they say a little over 6 pounds (well a week ago Ruthie weighed 7.2 pounds, so I guess we've blown there info!!

Keep checking back for more updates on the cervix of steel!!

She's still a GIRL!!!

That's the good news. All the pink does not have to be replaced with blue. PRAISE the LORD for that. (I think He knew that would send me over the edge!) More good news and Praises to our Father is that she passed her bio-physical with flying colors! The sonographer said that she is developing perfectly! She even saw her diaphragm moving up and down and that means she's practicing breathing for her grand entrance into our world.

The not so good news is that she already weighs 7.2 pounds and they set my induction for July 24th- my due date. I was so hoping that they would induce me a week or two early so that I could have a some-what-smaller baby. But, it looks as though they've doomed me to a 10 pounder!

All is not lost, however, if I start to dilate (which at this point I haven't) then they could move the induction date forward. So please join me in praying...

Keep checking back to see more news of Ruthie's grand event!!
