Ruthie Live

This is Ruthie talking. We were trying to capture how she talks with her hands, but she discovered that if she banged the table she made noise and instead of talking with her hands she just kept banging the table. But, it's a cute little clip of some of our conversations! Enjoy!

This is Ruthie with Uncle Matt at the restaurant where we went for breakfast. He is bouncing her and she is singing! TOO CUTE! It's a little hard to hear her because of all the background noise, but if you listen closely you'll hear her sing in vibration!

This is a short clip of her eating cheerios... with some lovely mus-ac in the background!

Hope you enjoyed some of our home video!

Ruthie is 9 Months OLD!!

And yet another month has FLOWN by... my baby is getting closer to that one year old mark!! I can't believe it as the summer creeps closer that I've been home with my baby for so long!! It seems like yesterday we brought her home from the hospital, and now she's 9 months old. If I blink my eye again, she'll be graduating from high school. Yes, I'm a bit dramatic.

On to the good stuff. This past month she's....

*Eating Avocado, cherrios , cottage cheese, crackers... and loving it! I can't wait to try yogurt!! That's coming in a couple of days!

* Began to "talk" with her hands. It is so cute when she sticks out her hand and moves it around, just as she sees us doing and "talks" to us. She has whole conversations, nothing of which we can understand!

* says "yeah" and waves her hands!

* she started to do this little moaning thing when she's tired. She's almost stopped it, but every once an a while it comes back. She starts moaning somewhat loud and then as she falls asleep the volume decreases! Weird!

* She is army crawling all over the place. Not crawling on hands and knees yet, but starting to go forward when sitting up and trying to...

* SHES GOT 2 TEETH that have cut through!!!

* Loves the sound of her voice vibrating. Daddy puts her on his knee so she can ride the horsey... bouncing her up and down. She just LOVES it!! So CUTE!

* She's 16.3 pounds and 26 3/4 inches long

* Only likes apple juice. Obviously it is VERY diluted, but I've tried white grape and apple banana juice and she won't have a thing to do with it. In fact, she won't even take the cup for weeks afterwards thinking I'm tricking her into drinking the retched stuff!! I guess for now it's an apple a day...

* She loves our dog Beethoven. (I think I have mentioned that before) but now when she sees him in our family room, she rolls over to him so she can pet him (i.e. pull his fur!) so, Beethoven will take it very well for a while and then when he's tired of it, he gets up and moves. Then, the smarty that she is, she rolls right on over to where he went, starts pulling on his fur and the whole process starts again. Round and Round the room. Until the DOG moves OUT of the room. It's quite funny!

* Two things I forgot to post last month is her fake cough. Yes, she has a fake cough and when we're not giving her enough attention, she fake coughs to get our attention. She also likes the way it sounds/feels so she does it just for fun! Also, she gives high 5's WHEN SHE WANTS TOO!!

* She's added -ena and -nana and -nighnigh to her vocabulary and, a drum roll please, MAMA!!!! YEAH!!!

My brother Matt came down to Florida for an interview and we were able to see him for a few days!! (We're waiting to hear that the deal is done, but we think Uncle Matt and Aunt Rachel will be moving soon!!!)

Steven Curtis, Cinderella, and all that Jazz!

We were blessed with some tickets to see Steven Curtis Chapman in concert this weekend! It was so fabulous! What a great performer and what a wonderful heart. He did all the favorites plus a section of requests. That was fun! His two sons were there playing in his band. That must have been cool! Most of you know that he and his wife have adopted 3 little girls which makes his family 6 kids strong. They also have created a non-profit that helps qualified christian families adopt orphans from around the world. They give monetary donations so that regular folks can adopt. Its called Shaohanna's Hope. At the end of the concert they brought a family up on stage and gave them the "change for orphans" that was collected at the concert. OVER $4,000!!! WOW!!! Pretty Cool.

Mmmm! My words taste good!

You know how you are BEFORE you have kids?

"Look at that child... MY CHILD WILL NEVER _____________ " You can fill in the blank with the appropriate thing. Sometimes I would fill in the blank with, "act that way" or "dress like that" or "make that face" or "talk to me like that" or "lie like that" etc...

So, Today was the day, the first one where my sweet precious and somewhat innocent little girl made me a liar!! I have often looked at the way other children are dressed when they are taken out and said, "my children will never look like that. Boy, what is that mom doing, can't she just wipe the kid's face for pity sake?"

As I said, Today was the day.

I ate my words.

They tasted... well at least I could laugh at it.

Ok, here's what happened. As I was running errands today, my sweet little Ruthie was behaving wonderfully, as usual. She loves to go out and about and watch people and look at things. She is a very good baby and a joy to take out of the house. Today she got a little cranky, as it was almost nap time, I understood. Trying to distract her, I gave Ruthie her juice cup. She loves her juice cup and usually drinks it up. If she's not drinking then she's teething on it. Either way, she's happy. And today proved no different. All the way through the store as I looked at one thing or another she was as happy as could be, drinking away.

She's always getting attention, so it was no surprise to me that everyone stopped and commented on how cute she was in her stroller. She had on this lovely summer outfit (yes, it was about 87 degrees here today) and a white bow in her hair to match. The only thing that I didn't like was she was barefoot. No big deal, I know she's not even pretending to walk yet, so her virgin feet never "hit" the floor. But, as I said, I take pride in the way Ruthie is always put together (wish I could say that about myself!).

Once we got out to the car, I unloaded our items, and went to put her in her car seat I realized what was keeping my precious little one so happy in the store.

It seems that she has found a way to twist the sippy cup cap and had DUMPED THE ENTIRE CUP OF JUICE ALL OVER HER AND HER STROLLER!!! Yes, she was literally drenched! Not being the freak out kind, I talked to her in a very calm and loving voice, all the while thinking WE DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR THIS!!!

There I was stripping my baby down to her diapers, changing a poopy one in the back seat mind you, and realizing that we didn't have a change of clothes. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. Then, it started raining. NO LIE!!!

No problem, we're almost done. BUT, what am I going to do? Go home and get a change of clothes before continuing onto my last stop? No, she would never last that long and we would be interrupting nap time... a definite no-no! Go to Publix with her in her diaper? No, I couldn't do that. What about all the times where I'd seen other moms with kids in diapers and thought, "man, can't you just put something on that sweet baby? It's not her/his fault that you're so busy!"

With the full knowledge that I was going to be eating my words, I walked into Publix with my sweet girl in only a diaper. At least it was clean!

I just knew everyone was looking at me thinking what a horrible mom I was. Hey, at least she had a bow in her hair. Oh. Yes. She. Did.

Maybe next time I see something that "I would never do" I'll be a little slower to judge my fellow moms!!
